Lillian Pauline Strahlendorff, 95, passed away on November 19, 2011 at her home in Corpus Christi, Texas. The last two years, her heart started to show signs of fatigue due to multiple complications and eventually could not support her courageous battle to live.
She was born June 3, 1916 in Cooper, Texas to Bessie Lee and Thomas Leslie Moore. Her life from birth through her late teens was spent on the family farm where she and her brothers and sisters worked to bring in cotton crops each year. Upon leaving the farm as an adult, she moved to Dallas and on to Oklahoma City. It was here that she met and married Ernest Andrew Strahlendorff at Tinker Air Force Base in 1951. She shared life with him for 57 years living in England, Japan, Turkey, Spain, and Crete. She learned Turkish and Spanish while living abroad. Lillian loved to read biographies and about famous people in history, until she was diagnosed with an eye disease that left her legally blind. Her wonderful cooking kept her family happy and she was content being a wife and mother and taking care of her family. Our Mother always found good in people and did not pass judgment on them. She believed in living her life the very best she could and believed that God was with her through the worst and best of times.
Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; two brothers, Walter and Otis Moore; and two sisters, Mary Evans and Mabel Dodd.
She is survived by two sons, Michael and Ron Strahlendorff.
The family is grateful to her Primary Care Physician and all the specialists that treated her to try to keep her quality of life as best as possible. A special thank-you to all of the home care nurses that attended to her needs.
Mom, you are in the arms of an angel now and in our hearts forever.
Services will be private. Lillian will be buried next to her husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
