Maria Pineda

Born on November 20, 1926 in San Benito,Texas, Maria passed away at the age of 93, on August 25, 2020.

She was a dedicated and essential worker for 30 years at the Lighthouse for the Blind. Her work ethic and strength were unmatched, as she was named employee of the year twice during her tenure. Despite her work obligations she always made sure to stop and enjoy time with her family. She would say the greatest joy of her life was her family and the love that they shared.

She is survived by her husband Rafeal Pineda, her children and adoptive children:

Rose and (Richard) Garcia, Hilario and (Nora Garcia), Herminia Lara, Alicia Wagner, Maria Elena and (Eliseo) Sanchez, Juan and (Irma) Rios, Mary Curiel (Diana B.), and her daughter-in-law Mary Hernandez. In addition to her children Maria had 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters and 1 brother, including numerous nieces and nephews.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents Serafina Rios Garcia, Marcelino Garcia (e.g.Teresa Garcia), and her beloved foster mother Cresencia Camero, first husband Mario Hernandez and sons Frank Mario Hernandez and Javier Hernandez.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
