

Maria Leonor Ramirez “AMA”, 91 went to Heaven to be with Our Lord on Resurrection Day, Sunday, April 5, 2015 with her Family by her side. She will be reunited with her Beloved Husband, Simon G. Ramirez, Sr. Maria and Simon were married on March 14, 1943 at Sacred Heart Church. In that union they had three children. Maria became a widow in 1970 and she never remarried. She was Father and Mother to her youngest son. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother that was always there for them. Maria’s Mother Refugia, passed away when she was five years. She, her siblings, two cousins and a nephew were raised together by their Grandmother Leonor Hernandez Trujillo. Maria taught her children about God, Church, respect, especially to their elders and many more good things too many to mention. In her life she read the Holy Bible from start to end three times. Maria retired after working for many years with Mr. & Mrs. Grett (Mary Grett School), Mr. & Mrs. H. Lipstreu and Mr. & Mrs. L. Homan. She was very dedicated to these wonderful Families. She enjoyed holidays and gathering with her family and relatives, watching Spanish novelas and gather around the table with her family to eat.
Maria is preceded in death by her husband Simon, Sr., Grand-Daughter Amanda Courtney Ramirez, Parents Apolinar and Refugia Trujillo, brother Salvador Trujillo, Sr. (Amelia), sister Victoria T. Rodriguez (Mr. Mercedes Jr.) from California, Cousin – Sister Mrs. Guadalupe C. Escamilla.
Survivors are her Daughter, Caregiver, and best friend Mary Lou Benavidez (+Francisco), two wonderful sons Simon Ramirez, Jr. (Aurelia) and Jesse A. Ramirez (Sandi). Grandchildren Norma Franco (Eduardo), Simon M. Ramirez (Sharon), Elizabeth Ramirez, Joseph Ramirez, Jay Ramirez, and Madeline Valerio. Great – Grandchildren Norma “Lynn” Gaitan (Louis Ean), Jose E. Franco, Carmen M. Franco and Katalyna Ramirez. Nephew Reynaldo Oritz, Sr. (Betty) Cousin – sisters Virginia Lerma, Geneivive Trujillo of Houston, sister Rosaura Trujillo, nephews and nieces from Corpus and California.
A visitation will be at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that same evening. A Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
