

Martin Earl Hodges, 97, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011. He was born January 2, 1914 in Normangee, Texas to Rev. Robert Martin and Libbie Lucretia Hodges. Earl honored our country by serving in the U. S. Army and was a World War II Veteran. He was retired from Reynolds Metals Co. as a District Traffic Manager. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a devoted member of St. Marks Lutheran Church for many years. Earl loved going to church and being with his church family. He especially loved going out to lunch every Sunday after church with his family. Earl loved being around people, especially those who would listen to all of his stories. He loved to talk with people and would talk your ear off if given the chance. Most importantly Earl was one of the most kind, gentle, loving, giving, selfless, humble people you would ever meet.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Linda Kay, 3 sisters and 4 brothers. He is survived by his loving devoted wife of 66 years, Edith Hodges, of Corpus Christi, one son, Don E. Hodges (Teri) of Corpus Christi, four grandchildren, Scott, Traci, Catherine, Candice, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Cage Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart Road. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday June 19, 2011 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church 4620 S. Alameda. Internment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery.
