Mary Kathryn, known as Cassie to nearly everyone, was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the Baptist church. She grew up on a farm in the Ozark Mountains, and even after she married the love of her life, Bo Cook, on November 27, 1953, and he moved her all over Texas, Arkansas and England, she thought the Ozarks were the most beautiful place on Earth. She was married to Bo for 64 years, and spoiled him rotten.
Cassie was a wife, a mother, a Sunday school teacher and worked for a while as an auctioneer. Her passions were writing, poetry, reading, embroidery, and cooking. If you visited Bo and Cassie, you were going to end up at their table eating something delicious. She also loved to write letters to the friends she had made while living in so many different places.
Cassie will be remembered for her hospitality, her generosity, and her desire to talk about her Savior to everyone she met.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Elmo Kirby “Bo” Cook; her sister, Dorothy and her 2 brothers, Kenneth and Deck.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Lynn (Bill) Krell; Mona Cook; son-in-law, Peter Runyon; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many dear friends, especially Joan and Tom Salazar and Freda James.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the care workers and staff at Corpus Christi Nursing and Rehab for their dedication and care of their mother.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Private burial will be held at Coastal Bend State Veteran’s Cemetery.
