Mary Lou is survived by daughters Dr. Melissa Gonzales (Louis) Esqueda, Melani C. (Allan) Ash, sons Miguel Angel Gonzales, George (Lori) Gonzales, Jr. and her loving grandchildren, Kaylee Marie Gonzales, Ty Lawrence Gonzales Graves, Demetrio Allan Ash, Jr., Dalton Kyle Ash, Leah Flores, Andrew Gonzales, Adrian Gonzales, and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, George S. Gonzales.
Mary Lou retired from Taft Independent School District and thoroughly enjoyed serving the children and families of Taft. She was a free spirit and believed in living life to its fullest. Her outlets were working in her yard, listening to all kinds of music, dancing and socializing with family and friends.
Mary Lou had an amazing sense of humor and a great laugh! Her wit was razor sharp and she was known to say the most shocking thing she could think of, in hopes of helping you see a new perspective. She made everyone laugh with her outrageous and exaggerated facial expressions, reactions and her silly sayings. She was kind, generous and compassionate. She believed in autonomy and a person’s right to choose the life they want. She loved her entire family, despite their quirks and dysfunction. She rooted for them, may have been challenged by them, forgave them, and always kept on loving them.
Mary Lou will be desperately missed by all those that she’s left behind. She was definitely one of a kind.
Her family wishes to extend a special thanks to everyone that was inclusive and accepting of their mother and her unique ways.
