Born January 25, 1940 in Freer, Texas, Melba moved to Rockport where she met and married Daniel C. Sanchez. She dedicated her life to her family, raising 3 children: Diana, Oscar, and Robert. Melba was a devout Christian and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was known for her steadfastness, quick wit, and infectious laughter.
Melba was talented and adventurous in many aspects of her life. Her and Dan were avid travelers and loved visiting Las Vegas in their younger years. She was a lover of sewing and painting, an avid crossword and word search puzzler, and an amazing mother and grandmother. When Melba was not tending to her home or spending time on projects, she could be found on her recliner watching Wheel of Fortune and her novelas. Not a day went by where Melba did not talk about how much her children and family meant to her -- her family was arguably her most important achievement in life.
Melba is survived by her sister Lillie Hernandez, her loving son, Robert Sanchez, her grandchildren Christina, Oscar Jr., Valerie, Vanessa, Ariel, Robert Jr., Arianne, Mariah, and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernadino and Elvira, sisters Anna Elva and Esperanza, husband Daniel, daughter Diana, and son Oscar Sr.
A loving and wonderful woman until the very end, she will be greatly missed.
