Melody Lynn Hunter, 65, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 after a short but brave battle with cancer. She was born on February 18, 1957 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Patricia Ruth Hunter and James Graham Hunter.
Known fondly by many as “Mel Mel,” she lived in Corpus Christi for the majority of her life and was a graduate of Richard King High School Class of 1975. The highlight of her life was getting to be “Monkey” to her two granddaughters. Melody will be remembered for dry humor and vivacious hospitality, especially by many loyal customers she served over her decades long hospitality career, most notably at The Ancient Mariner. She cared deeply for her family and friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her will profoundly miss her.
She leaves behind a large number of people who loved her dearly, including: her son, Jeremy Peters, granddaughters Camille Caroline Peters and Christian Chelle Peters, sister, Desiree Hunter Tullos, niece, Christi Tullos, and brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Edie Hunter. She was so grateful for her many friends and neighbors who continually checked in on her and loved her.
A special thank you to a few dear friends who helped her tremendously: Janice Crocker, David Ward, Ray Summy, Kimber Patty, Kathy Biles Rogers and Cedric Peters, Ursula and David Morck, and the Habeeb family.
Melody was preceded in death by her parents.
‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
Services are entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel-Everhart, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411.
