Micaela "Mickie" Melendez Reyes

Mickie graduated from Shannen School of Nursing and received her license of Vocational Nurse. She married the love of her life, Lencho Reyes on December 17, 1955. Mickie had a career in Nursing and Physical Therapy for Doctor’s Regional Hospital for 38 years. She was a devout member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, bingo, traveling to casinos and spending time with the Golden Girls. Her biggest passion was her family.

She is reunited with her beloved husband, Lencho Reyes; parents, Tomas and Petra Melendez; grandchildren, Mathew Garza, Kayla Diane Garza; siblings, Raymond Perez, Luis Perez, Anselma De La Cruz, Isaura Gonzales, Frank Melendez, Jose Melendez, and Antonio Melendez.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children, Gloria Flores (Santiago “Jimmy”), Mary Helen Garza (Rey), Diana Cantu (Edward); grandchildren, Santiago “Jay” Flores Jr., (Aimee), Timothy Cantu, Nicholas Flores, Jennifer Cantu (Eddie), Bianca Martinez (Alex); eleven great grandchildren; and sister, Natalie Vasquez.

She is also survived by her special God daughter, Norma Delgado and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Family will receive friends on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
