Nellie Elliott McMinn

Nellie is preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, David A. McMinn, after sixty years of marriage. They were married in 1939. When David left to fight in the Pacific during World War II, Nellie got her license as a hairdresser to work and take care of their son David.

She was an avid gardener, great cook, and she loved to fish. This past Mother’s day she said the best present would be to go fishing for a couple of hours.

She was a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Nellie leaves behind a loving family; son David B. McMinn and his wife Vicki, Susy and Doug Wayne of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Rick McMinn Sr. (Sherri) of Corpus Christi, MSgt. James A. McMinn (MSgt. Tiffany McMinn) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Jeffrey D. McMinn of Corpus Christi; great-grandchildren, Rick McMinn Jr.(Linzy) of Austin, Texas, Amanda L. McMinn of Portland, Texas, SSgt. Christopher J. McMinn (Laura) of Yuba City, California, Joshua C. McMinn of College Station, Texas, Kathryn N. McMinn, and K. Joseph McMinn of Corpus Christi, Texas; great-great-grandchildren, Draven, Trey, and Sylas Wilkes of Portland, Texas. She also leaves behind Hoppy the fifty five year old parrot who called Nellie “mama”.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Funeral service will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
