

Ofelia Q. Reyes, an inspiration to all that knew her, was granted her angel wings on Sunday, January 16, 2011 after a short courageous battle with cancer. Ofelia was born on July 26, 1957 in Sinton, Texas to Miguel and Aurora Quintanilla. Ofelia was true to the saying “Once a Buc, Always a Buc.”
With her courage, beauty and strength Ofelia’s presence was a gift to all. She contributed to everyone in many different ways: a counselor, taxi driver, cook, babysitter, loan officer and care giver. Her greatest accomplishments were being a devoted wife, amazing mother, awesome grandmother, caring sister and supportive daughter.
Ofelia leaves behind to cherish her beautiful memory: Her husband of 37 years, Juan Reyes, daughters, Elaine (Mark) Salazar, Evelyn Reyes; granddaughters, Brianna and Cianna Salazar; mother, Aurora Quintanilla; siblings, Mike (Sandy) Quintanilla, Raul (Gina) Quintanilla, Delia Quintanilla, Carol Hernandez, Linda (Rick) Vallejo, Janie (Pete) Galvan, Josie (Tim) Vickey, Mary (Eliseo) Lopez, Martin (Macie) Quintanilla, Raymond (Gracie) Quintanilla, Andy (Melissa) Quintanilla, Isabel (Ron) Saenz, Ana (Ralph) Aguirre; mother-in-law, Julia Reyes; brothers and sister-in-law, Enrique (Belinda) Martinez, Domingo Reyes, Jr., Sylvester (Molly) Reyes, Tony (Michelle) Reyes, Claudia (Luther) Glasco, Joe Reyes, and Ray (Stacy) Reyes. Also surviving her are numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Cage-Mills Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Visitation will resume at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or The American Cancer Society.
Her family would like to thank the staff on the 6th floor at Christus Spohn Pavilion on Shoreline for their compassion and generous care giving.
