Olivia was born April 2, 1936, to Eudelio C. Salazar and Maria Gutierrez Salazar of Corpus Christi, Texas. She was one of three sisters- Suzanna, Olivia, and Sarah Salazar.
On August 31, 1957, she married her husband of 55 years, and they built a family of 5 children. Their home was filled with music, the sounds of children playing and the aromas of her authentic home cooked meals. Olivia lived her life simply and seemed happiest when she was caring for her children, her husband, and their home.
In later years, she experienced tragedy and grief, with the loss of 2 children and her husband, but she always maintained a kind and gentle spirit. Her greatest gifts were the gifts of faith, hope, and love she shared with all those who grew to know and love her.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Victor De La Cruz, Ruben De La Cruz Sr. (Andrea), Richard De La Cruz (Olga) and daughter, Lupita Lozano (Ray); her sister, Ms. Sarah Morales, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria Salazar; father, Eudelio Salazar; husband, Manuel De La Cruz Sr.; son, Manuel De La Cruz Jr (surviving spouse, Betty); daughter, Maria Cruz (surviving spouse, Freddie) and a sister, Suzanna Barraza.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Cruz Jr, Manuel De La Cruz III, Ruben De La Cruz Jr., Lionel Trevino III, Jeremiah De La Cruz, Ralph Garcia and Ray Lozano Jr.
