Olivia R. De Los Santos

Diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s in 1997, Olivia continued to be an amazing Mother and Grandmother. Even after countless setbacks caused her debilitating condition, she always maintained a brave and positive outlook.

As our families grew, our Mother continued to be involved in our daily lives. Mom was a great cook, avid gardener, and best friend to all her children. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her family…until she no longer could.

After years of devoting her life to caring for her children, ultimately, her children devoted their lives to caring for her. In the last several years of her life, she lived with her daughter Cindie’s family. Through love and devotion, our Mom was deeply cared for and able to live out her life surrounded by loving family.

Olivia R. De Los Santos, age 69, passed peacefully with her loving family by her side on May 17, 2014. She was born on March 11, 1945 in Elsa, Texas to Santos and Josefina Rodriguez.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert De Los Santos; infant son, Santos; parents, Santos and Josefina Rodriguez; and brother, Rodrigo Rodriguez.

Olivia leaves behind to cherish her memories, 7 children. Cindie (Leo) Gonzalez, Chrissy Anthony, Mattie (Roland) Gonzales, Gilbert (Corina) De Los Santos, Gabe (Shelly) De Los Santos, Adrian (Ashley) De Los Santos, and Javier De Los Santos. Her legacy lives on with her twenty-two grandchildren as well. She also leaves behind a sister, Maria Torres; a brother Ira (Janie) Rodriguez; her sister-in-law Elodia (the late Rod) Rodriguez; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Prince of the Apostle. Entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
