Patricia Galvan Prezas

Patricia “Patty” Galvan Prezas, who was born on December 9, 1920, and was a breast cancer survivor, was called to be with the Lord on her birthday December 9, 2016 after blessing many with her love, respect and presence for 96 years. She married the love of her life Johnny G. Prezas and they were able to share 57 wonderful years of marriage together. Their favorite saying was, “Together Forever.” She was known for being a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished cooking delicious meals for her family on Sundays and special holidays. She had a passion for music and especially treasured hearing the sounds of her brothers’ orchestra, “The Galvan Brothers” of Corpus Christi. She enjoyed singing, dancing, playing the piano, but most of all she enjoyed being with her loving family.

Along with her beloved husband, Johnny G. Prezas and her son, John Edward Prezas, Patty will be welcomed into Heaven by her parents Rafael Galvan, Sr. and Virginia Galvan; her brothers, Ralph (Jeanne) Galvan, Jr., Sam (Terry) Galvan, Sr., Edward Galvan, Sr., and Carlos (Katy) Garcia; sisters, Beatriz (Joe) de la Vina, Rosa (Lee) Martinez and Virginia (Arnold) Gonzalez; brother-in-law, Luis Oliveira, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Susie Brown and Rosie Morales; nieces, Guadalupe Alicia Galvan and Monica Marie Martinez; and nephews, Luis Oliveira, Jr. and Ralph Galvan III.

Patty leaves behind to love and honor her memory her sister, Mamie Galvan Oliveira and her brother, Robert (Alicia) Galvan, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Nathe Jasan and Alma Benton; son, Raul R. (Sylvia) Prezas; four grandsons, John C. (Regina) Prezas, Raul F. (Mark) Prezas, John A. (Annie) Prezas and Jared E. Prezas, and eleven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Jared, Cambryn, Savannah, Charlotte, Colin, Stefan, Aiden, Elena, John and William. Patty will also be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and family members that she loved unconditionally as her own children.

The family would like to thank the Retama Manor Nursing Home, Altus Hospice Staff and Father O.G. for their kindness and care.

Pallbearers both active and honorary will be Lee Martinez, Jr., Freddie Martinez, Augustine Collin, Mike Hoeltzel, Mike Maldonado, Sr., Arnold Gonzalez, Jr., Robert J. Gonzalez, Sr., Robert Galvan, Jr., Larry Dechant, Sr., Victor Palacios, Sr., Mark Rodriguez, Joe Lopez, Sr., Alfred Boyd, Sam Galvan, Jr., and Edward Galvan, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly in Corpus Christi, with the Holy Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be recited at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday December 14, 2016 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Patty will then be laid to rest next to her husband Johnny G. Prezas and her son John Edward Prezas in the Galvan family section at Rose Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the John Edward Prezas Scholarship Fund at Del Mar College, Corpus Christi.
