Our dear loved one, Pete Guzman Martinez, age 67, passed onto his eternal rest on Sunday, April 23, 2017. Though this is a time of great sadness, we find comfort in the unforgettable memories he left alive in each one of us. Pete was very passionate about life and lived his life to the fullest every day. We often hear the phrase, “Carpe Diem – Seize The Day!” He lived out this motto daily. He was known for keeping himself busy, working on projects around his home or helping other family members. He enjoyed building, using his imagination, and creating what came to his mind. He always had a smile on his face, a trip to talk about, a lesson to tell about history, something loving to share about his wife, sons, and family, or a dance move to show off, and was always a sharp-dressed man. Pete enjoyed sharing stories about his children. He shared stories about their life, their work, home, grandchildren, and accomplishments. He shared his pride and love for them boldly. Pete also shared the passionate love he felt for his beloved wife, Cindy Trevino. He expressed how blessed he was to be able to share this lifetime with such a beautiful love by his side. Pete and Cindy had a deep love for one another that was visible from across the room. No words were needed to describe the deep connection they shared with one another.
Taking a journey back into his life, he achieved so much, including his fifteen years of service in the United States Army, in which he also retired from. During his service, he served in three combat zones, which included The Gulf War. Pete received numerous awards and medals throughout his service with the Army. He was proud to serve his country. As proud as he was to serve his country, he was even more proud to serve the Lord. He was very involved in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he enjoyed attending and participating in meetings. He enjoyed reading the Bible and sharing his love for Jehovah God. His deep love for Jehovah developed into a solid relationship. He was dedicated, and he became a stewardship for God. He often ministered to others about the Lord. His love for Jehovah shone brightly through him every day.
Pete is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Trevino; two sons, Gabriel Martinez (Mila) and Lance Martinez (Whitney); one daughter, Patricia Ann Livas (Oscar Pena); stepchildren including, Jimmy Trevino, daughter-in-law, Selena Trevino, Alexis Trevino, Paul Trevino, and Victoria Trevino-Ornelas (Gabriel); numerous grandchildren whom he loved very much; sister, Delfa Galvan (Raul) and Rosita Gutierrez; mother, Cruzita G. Martinez; numerous nieces and nephews whom he shared a loving and close relationship with, and many extended family members. Pete knew no stranger. He will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro G. Martinez and his brother, Michael G. Martinez.
