

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rosendo and Benita E. Montalvo; wife, Hortencia P. Montalvo; brothers, Lozeno E. Montalvo and Ricardo E. Montalvo; and sister, Josefina M. Villarreal.
Ponciano was a proud WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Army in 1943 under the regime of General Patton. He fought in France, Austria and at Normandy Beach. Ponciano enjoyed his retirement from Reynolds Metal of 30 years at his ranch in Goliad, TX. He enjoyed gardening, being on his tractor and spending time with family.
Our dad was a strong and brave man even to the end. This is a strength he instilled in all of us.
Ponciano leaves behind to cherish his memories are his children, Juan Oscar (Diana) Montalvo, Norma Montalvo Cardenas, Nora (Tommy) M. Rios; grandchildren, Ben Cardenas, Natasha Rios, Arisa (David) Larios, Travis Rios, and Alina Cardenas; and great-grandson, Dayson Anthony Larios, including nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Rios, Mandy Cardenas, Ben Cardenas, Travis Rios, David Larios and Ramiro Montalvo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Arturo M. Villarreal and Ricardo Montalvo.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
