Porfirio H. Vela

He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 2, 1937.

Porfirio was married to Petra Garcia Vela.

He worked for the City of Corpus Christi for 36 years.

Porfirio had a passion for BBQing, fishing, hunting, and working on his ranch.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Petra Garcia Vela and son, Arturo Vela.

Porfirio is survived by his children, Rosalinda Vela, Patricia Arellano (Joe), Reynaldo Vela (Lupita), Sandra Rocha (Roland), and Raul Rodriguez (Roxann). Also surviving are his grandchildren, Sonya Salgado (June), Rey Vela (Brittany), Ashley Benavidez (Arthur), Amanda Aguilar, Rolando Rocha, Jr., and Vanessa Ochoa (Josh); 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Public visitation will be from 4:00 pm. Until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly, 3442 Holly Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415 with rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A chapel service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX.
