Roy started working at a young age as a cook in a local eatery, and then progressed to obtain employment with Dr. Pepper/Coke-Cola as a mechanic and assist in the warehouse. Later, he moved to a shop at Smith International, later owned by Odessa Pumps and he was retained as an employee for his expertise. The joke has been Roy came with the building!
He continued his employment with Odessa Pumps for 25-years. He also enjoyed working on golf carts in his spare time. Roy later moved his expertise to Air Specialty as Pump and Compression Mechanic.
Roy was an all- around handyman and could fix anything.
His hobbies were woodworking, and any home projects Sharon would allow or what he could do in secret. Roy was a lover of all animals, especially his fur-babies, his dogs. They had a routine every morning. I am sure they miss him.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Josefa Vasquez, two brothers, Silver Sr, David Vasquez, One niece Sandra Vasquez.
He attended St. Peter Catholic Church and is survived by his wife Sharon, of 33 years, and one son, Ronnie” Bumper” (Hilda) Teschendorf, four brothers, Toby (Cindy), Luis (Rosie), Johnny (Donna), Gilbert, four sisters, Gloria (Albert), Maria, Esther, Alice. Sisters-in-law Mary Vasquez and Rene Smith (David). Two brothers-in-law, John (Kathy) Tischler, Chad “Duke” (Danielle) Tischler. Numerous nieces and nephew.
Family will receive friends on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 1:30 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
