

He was born on October 21, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Frank and Della Matta.
Ray is also preceded in death by one sister, Sylvia Matta.
He served in the Army Security Agency (ASA) in Germany.
Ray was employed with the Corpus Christi Caller Times for 37 years, where he retired as an IT Manager. He enjoyed barbequeing, cooking and woodworking. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Ray leaves behind his family to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Maria Matta; three daughters, Priscilla Wolf (Lary), Jackie Gonzales (Danny) and Kelly McQuary (Joe); brothers, Frank Matta (Marge) of St. Louis, MO, and Ralph Daniel Matta (Priscilla) of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Amanda Wolf, Tera Elwell, Dillon McQuary, Meghan McQuary, Danny Gonzales, Jr., and Dorine Gonzales; other surviving family members, nephew, Ralph Matta, Jr.; sister-in-law, Josie Castillo (Ramon); brother-in-law, Chris Ochoa (Sally) and Clara Matta.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
