

Richard “Dickie” S. Gonzales, 69, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016. He was born to Pablo and Ofilia Gonzales in Kingsville, Texas, where he was raised. He graduated from H.M. King High School in 1964 and received his Vocational Training Certification in Auto Mechanics from Del Mar College. He had a lifelong passion and career as a mechanic and was a master of his craft.
Richard was a Mopar enthusiast who enjoyed Hemi engines and his beloved lime green 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. He was devoted to his wife and children and enjoyed serving others and the Church as a lector, usher, and in any way he could. Richard was a 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Pablo and Ofilia Gonzales; sisters, Gloria Gonzales and Mary Helen Maldonado; brothers, Enrique Gonzales and Jesus Gonzales; son, Richard P. Gonzales; and son-in-law Robert Todd.
On October 30, 1976, Richard married the love of his life, Eva Lamas Garcia of Kingsville. He is survived by his brother, Pablo S. Gonzales, Jr.; children, Katherine (Juan Carlos) Sanchez, Amanda Todd, Joseph (Shevawn) Gonzales; and grandchildren, Christian Sanchez, Camille Sanchez, Calista Sanchez, Karena Gauna, Karizma Gauna, Diego Gauna, and Emily Gonzales.
Public visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly Chapel. Special music will be played by Joseph and Shevawn Gonzales from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. before a rosary is recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Our Lady of San Juan De Los Lagos Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery in Kingsville, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Paul Gonzales, Juan Carlos Sanchez, Chris Calderon, David Rizkallah, Rolando Flores, Daniel L. Garcia and Oscar “Red” Vela.
