
Robert Joseph Baer passed away December 6, 2014, four months shy of the age 91 years old. He was born to Adolph and Tennie Baer in Vaughn, New Mexico. At age 6, Bob and his family moved to San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He attended Baylor University before serving with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. After Bob’s discharge, he earned his BBA degree from Trinity University in San Antonio. Bob was a DeMolay. He retired from Amoco Production Co. in 1986 after 38 years of service, and then consulted for Amoco for an additional 8 years. In 1950 he married Kathryn Moore and they lived in Beeville and Portland, Texas for 30 years. He was active with the 20-30 Club, Little League Baseball, Amoco Credit Union, and Boy Scouts. In 1980 Bob was transferred to Houston, Texas, and lived in Katy. He devoted his retirement years to volunteer work, was on the board of the BP Credit Union, a member of the Steering Committee for BP Volunteers, a member and officer of the Amoco Alumni Club, a member and officer of the Pioneer Oil Petroleum Society, “POPS”, and a member of the “42” group at Bear Creek Community Center and Hockley Community Center. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Kathryn, in 2004, after almost 54 years of marriage. Bob always said Kathryn was the perfect person.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Albert and Karl. He is survived by his daughter Pamela (Bill) Isaacson of Corpus Christi, and son Brian (Martha) Baer of Sugar Land, his grandchildren Jerome (Monica) Chapman of Corpus Christi, Christopher (DeAnna) Chapman of Gainesville, Florida, Matthew Baer of San Antonio, Maggie Baer of New York City, great grandchildren Justin, Hailey, and Aubrey Chapman of Corpus Christi, and Elyse Kathryn Chapman of Gainesville, Florida.
The family would like to thank the management and staff of Mirador Plaza and New Century Hospice for the loving care and comfort provided to Daddy.
The family will hold private graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Pettus, P.O. Box 133, Pettus, Texas 78146, or a charity of your choice.
