Robert was born in Graham, Texas on September 26, 1937 to Robert Jewel Kirtley and Mary Frances Boyle. He graduated high school at Albany Public School in 1955 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Robert met the love of his life, Charlotte Ann Patterson and they married on July 20, 1959. They remained married until her death in 2014.
Robert served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1966. He spent the majority of his working career as a Minister with the Church of Christ. He had an unwavering faith in God and spent his days on this earth ministering to others and providing spiritual support. In his later years he worked with Memory Gardens Funeral Home and used his compassionate nature to assist others in their time of need. He touched so many lives on this earth and the time has come for him to receive his reward in Heaven.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Jewel and Mary Frances Kirtley; his wife, Charlotte Ann Kirtley and his son Robert Kelly Kirtley. He is survived by his daughter, Renee Kathleen Gonzales, son in law Bobby Gonzales and his three grandchildren who were his pride and joy…Jacob Gonzales, Joshua Gonzales and Nina Gonzales.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, located at 4901 Everhart Rd., Corpus Christi, Texas, with a Chapel Service to begin at 7:00 pm that same evening. A private burial will be held at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
