Robert had a 20 year career in the U.S. Navy that took him on adventures around the world. His Navy service gave him a deep understanding of global politics and strategies which he applied to chess matches, military-themed games, and Disney vacations. Following his Navy retirement, he had a 27 year career with the Boeing Company.
Robert had a quiet Christian faith that he enjoyed studying and learning more about. In his 50s, inspired by his wife, Anne, Robert began running half-marathons all over the United States, eventually completing 44, and the Walt Disney World’s multi-day Goofy challenge twice. An avid magician, Robert loved bringing wonder to his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and random unrelated children stuck in any kind of waiting line. After retiring for the second time, he renewed his focus on a lifetime passion for photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Bonnie Maher.
Robert is survived by his wife of 48 years; his brother, Jerome (Susan) Maher Jr.; his daughter, Stephanie Maher; his sons, Christopher (Shelly) Maher and Matthew (Christina) Maher; three grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers, Jerome Maher, Christopher Maher, Matthew James Maher, Matthew Isaiah Maher, Philip Nesmith, and Andrew Maher.
