Robert “Bob” Eugene Porter, age 82, of Ranger, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Bob was born February 4, 1939 in Cushing, Oklahoma to William Thomas “W.T.” Porter and Maryola Ida (Barrow) Porter.
He was raised in West Texas, graduating from Denver City High School, before serving our country for 21 years in the Army, Navy and Coast Guard respectively. After retiring from USCG, he served as a Peace Officer in the Corpus Christi Marina Patrol. He also studied accounting at Corpus Christi State University. Bob worked as an accountant in Washington State and Arizona retiring from ThyssenKrupp Elevator.
Bob shared his love of travelling by taking his family on many cross country road trips. He also enjoyed music, two-stepping and playing pool. When at home, Bob was the quintessential handyman able to tackle the toughest of woodworking projects. He also loved gardening, puzzles and animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents and great granddaughter, Neveyah Laine.
Bob is survived by sisters Billie Lee Cooper (George (deceased)); Betty Fleming (Robert); and brother, Johnny Ray Porter; his partner, Jeff Coleman-Porter; ex-wife, Diana Colin and their children, Michael Porter Sr. (Monica) of Victoria, TX; Mark Porter (Andrea) of Grandview, TN; Michelle Benavides (Sergio) of New Town, ND; and Melissa “Misty” Porter-Belch of Baltimore, MD. Grandchildren Erika Castaneda, Christopher Castaneda (Jessica), Michael Porter Jr., Steven Porter (Abi), Alex Rodriguez, Jessica Rodriguez, Robby Porter, Sergio Antonio Benavides, Daniel Benavides, Trevor “Bud” Belch II, 13 surviving great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Funeraria Del Angel-Everhart, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX, Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. followed by Interment at Coastal Bend State Veteran's Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, Texas.
