Roland R. Adame, age 72, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on February 27, 2026. Roland was born in Corpus Christi on August 5, 1953, to Eduardo and Juanita Adame.
On February 17, 2007, he married the love of his life, Patty Adame, in Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by members of the dance community, family, and friends who gathered to celebrate their union.
Roland was well known in the Corpus Christi community for his passion for dance. He received his certification in dance instruction in 1989 through the Arthur Murray franchised dance studio and spent more than 35 years teaching dance classes and private instruction. Roland touched countless lives through his love of teaching and sharing the joy of dance.
Before leaving to teach each class, Roland had a quiet tradition. He would pause to say a prayer, asking that there would be a good crowd, that everyone traveling to and from the dance would arrive safely, and that through his teaching others might see God’s love reflected in him. He would end his prayer with humility, saying that if it was God’s will for the evening to be successful, that would be wonderful—and if not, that was okay too. On the nights when Patty joined him, they would say that prayer together, placing the evening and the people they would meet in God’s hands.
In addition to his work as a dance instructor, Roland worked for over 30 years as a painter on luxury homes. He was also active in the arts, spending time with the Harbor Playhouse Community Theater where he performed in several productions, including Hairspray and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Roland had many passions outside of work. He loved fishing and could often be found casting a line anywhere there was water. He enjoyed sports of all kinds including football, tennis, baseball, surfing, and girls’ fast-pitch softball. He was a proud member of St. Andrew’s by the Sea Catholic Church and faithfully participated in the First Saturday Rosary prayer group.
Roland was known for his compassionate and generous heart. While teaching dance at Whiskey River, he organized an annual Christmas toy drive for the dancers in his classes. Students were encouraged to bring a toy to donate to Driscoll Children’s Hospital, and for each toy donated they received a ticket for a chance to win a private dance lesson. Every year at Christmas, Roland, Patty, and their grandchildren would personally deliver the toys to the hospital. What began as a simple idea became a beloved tradition that continued for many years until the COVID pandemic.
Roland had a deep love for animals and cared for many pets throughout his life. He also had a special compassion for those in need. If he saw someone struggling, especially someone experiencing homelessness, he would quietly find ways to help. On one occasion he purchased several jackets and delivered them to Timon’s Ministries so they could be given to those who needed them most. Many of Roland’s acts of kindness were done quietly, without recognition.
Roland also had a deep devotion to St. Anthony, the patron saint known for helping find lost things. His Catholic faith was an important part of his life and guided the way he cared for others.
Above all, Roland loved his family deeply. He cherished his wife Patty, his children, grandchildren, and extended family, and he loved Patty’s family as his own.
Roland is survived by his beloved wife, Patty Adame; his son, Justin Adame; his daughters, Kiersten Adame (Stacie), and Kayla Adame (Allie); his stepson, Dave Jensen (Jessey); and stepdaughter, Melisa Anderson. He is also survived by his brothers Eddie Adame and Joel Adame (Terri); his sister Diana Martinez; and niece/sister Judy Gammon (Brian).
Roland was a proud grandfather to Jackson Adame Covey, Jordan Moats (Dave), Kaylee Grassedonio (Matt), and Lilly Anderson. He was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Mia Belle Moats.
Roland will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, deep faith, and the joy he brought to others through dance, friendship, and love. He often encouraged others with a phrase he loved to say: “I hope you dance.”
Memorial Services will be held on March 21, 2026. Visitation will be at 9:30 with a Rosary being held at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m., at St. Andrew’s by the Sea Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. A celebration of life gathering will follow at Curry’s Cove, 902 Graham Road, Corpus Christi, Texas, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, family members, and members of the community who have sent flowers, food, prayers, and messages of comfort during this difficult time. Your kindness and support have meant more than words can express.
Roland’s memory will live on in the many lives he touched and the love he shared with family, friends, and his community.
