Ruben S. Martinez Jr.

Ruben S. Martinez, Jr., 57, of Corpus Christi Texas, passed away on September 10, 2024. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on January 6, 1967 to his loving parents, Ruben V. Martinez Sr., and Rosalinda S. Martinez.

Ruben worked for Texas Health and Human Services at the Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center for over 26 years. Ruben took pride in his work and held several different positions during his time there. He enjoyed working with PNMP Department.

Ruben loved watching his favorite teams play, especially the San Antonio Spurs, and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed watching his favorite TV series “Will and Grace” and “Sex in the City.” Ruben had a passion for traveling, spending time with his family and friends and his three dogs, Bella, Panchito, and Lilly. He loved 80’s music and was known to be the life of the party, and always had everyone laughing and dancing. Ruben was known for cracking jokes and his laugh. He was a very loving and caring person and had the biggest heart; he was the ‘go-to person’ when you needed someone to talk to and always gave the absolute best advice. Ruben was known to be the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it.

Ruben is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lucy and Secundino Sanchez; paternal grandparents, Margarita and Gerardo Martinez; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on both parents’ sides.

He is survived by his parents, Ruben V. Martinez Sr. and Rosalinda S. Martinez; his loving partner of eight years, Jorge Recendez; siblings, Jeannette Dominguez (Jacob), Rene Martinez, Anna Torres, and Rosemary Soliz (Gilbert); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruben S. Martinez Jr.'s family would like to thank the hospital staff, friends, and family who have reached out with support and have paid their condolences; as well as the Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center Staff, and Rosie, Jessica, Letty, and Bill.

Ruben cherished and loved his family; he will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

A public visitation for Ruben will be held 5:00PM - 9:00PM on Thursday, October 24, 2024. A Holy Rosary will occur Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 7:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. An interment will occur Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
