Rudy was a proud member of El Cordero de Dios Church and found great comfort in his faith. He loved discussing scripture, sharing meaningful conversations, and reflecting on life, especially memories of his daughters. Those who knew Rudy will always remember his favorite saying, “You’re out of control,” delivered with his signature humor and charm.
Rudy had a deep passion for music and dancing, enjoying everything from rock and roll, Tejano, and oldies to classic rock. He was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. Weekends often found him outside grilling — his barbecue was legendary among family and friends. He also had a love for lowrider cars and the culture that came with them.
Above all, Rudy cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Whether it was long talks, laughing, or making memories, family was the center of his world.
Rudy is preceded in death by his father, Hilario A. Rios Sr.; his mother, Eustolia A. Rios; and his beloved son, Rudy Rios Jr.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 10 years, Emma La Cour; his stepfather, Guadalupe Garza Jr.; his children, Adrianna (Jonathon) Bermudez, Elizabeth Rios, Theresa Ortiz, and Roger (Angel) Llamas Jr.
He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Jonathon, Anaya, Kingston, Messiah Bermudez, Alexandria, Philipe Rodriguez, Ruben, Elianna R. Villarreal, Alexus, Isaac Davila, Jon Jon, Jenesy Gutierrez, Lorissa, Lauren, Lexy, and Roger Llamas III; and his great-grandchildren: Amara, Sage, Eloy, Leo, Frankie, and Stephano.
Rudy is also survived by his siblings: Hilario A. Rios Jr., Jesusa M. Rodela, Rene (Chriselda) Rios, Ralph A. Rios, Blanca (Jay) Rigall, and Blanca Galvan, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
The family has entrusted the honor of serving as pallbearers to: Hilario A. Rios Jr., Rene Rios, Ralph A Rios, Armando Rodela, Jay Rigall, Julian Rios, Hilario A. Rios III, and Damion Rocha. Honorary Pallbearers: Rudy Rios Jr, Joe Ray Marquez, and Miguel Rodela.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the hospice nurses, Dr. Ester Pollard, El Cordero de Dios Church, and all family and friends who offered love, prayers, and support during this time.
Rudy’s legacy of love, laughter, faith, and unforgettable barbecue will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
