Sandra “Sandie” Dorothy Power, 79, of Corpus Christi, was born on February 23, 1944, in Peoria, Illinois, to Charles and Dorothy Power and entered into the presence of her heavenly Father on the evening of January 8, 2024.
Sandie moved with her family to Corpus Christi, TX in 1947 and graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1962. She worked different jobs throughout the years and then had a career of over 25 years in the insurance business.
Sandie’s greatest love was her family. She expressed her love to them by greeting them warmly with the best hugs. She loved spending time with them whenever she could and calling each one regularly. Any special occasion; birthday, Valentines Day, Anniversary, Graduation, was remembered with a card and a phone call. Sandie collected memories in photo albums that she made for each person in her family throughout the years. They lined the shelves of her home and were always a highlight when the family was together and could look through them.
Sandie was an avid reader of many different genres. She especially enjoyed studying God’s word with Berachah Church and having discussions about what she was learning. She often spent her time gardening and loved to work in her yard daily. She enjoyed the challenge of growing new things and making anywhere that she lived beautiful. She found pleasure in adding plants to her yard that would attract hummingbirds so that she could watch them during migration time.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Merrilee Power and her parents. She is survived by her children, James (Kim) Thomas, Richard (Latrichia) Thomas, and Merrilee (James) Thomas Bartram; grandchildren, Matthew (Amanda) Thomas, Connor Thomas, and Janelle Thomas; great-grandchild, Evangeline Thomas; brother, Robert (Cora) Power; nieces, Heather (Scott) Brown-Power and Carole (Jon) Herrell; and nephew, Bobby Power.
Sandie’s wishes will be honored and a formal service will not be held. The family will get together at a later date for a celebration of her life. The family would like to thank the staff at River Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation for their excellent care during Sandie’s time there as well as the friends and neighbors who visited her. To honor Sandie consider planting something of your choosing that will attract/ feed the hummingbirds as they migrate. Condolences may be given on the funeral home website site.
