Simona Harris

Mona was born and raised in Laredo, Texas where she married Glafiro Gomez after their Martin High School graduation. They raised their six children in Corpus Christi, Texas where they were active boosters for the Foy H. Moody Trojan Band. After the passing of Glafiro Gomez in 1976, she married James Ray Harris in 1980.

She would emphasize to her family to stay close to God and to stay united as a family. Sibling rivalry was never acceptable and her children continue to honor her request. She faithfully called everyone on his or her birthdays and asked her family to continue calling each other. She was the glue that kept her family together. Friends and family also experienced her zealousness for giving and gifting. She had a passion for sewing and there was no project too big for her. She was a servant to all, loved and took special pride in helping the priest who was blind, with the mass. She sewed all the linens for the altars that are still in place in the church where she attended mass daily. God will welcome her with “Well Done” my faithful daughter and we can almost hear Simona Harris say “Let me hem that robe, it’s too long for you”.

Simona Harris is survived by the following six children: Sylvia Castillo, Esq., (Luis H., Esq.); Glafiro Gomez Jr., R.Ph., (Yolanda, BS,MA); Yolanda Vasquez, MT, retired; (Alberto Jr. CAPT, USN, retired), Norma Parra M.D. (Ernesto Parra M.D.), Gloria Rivera, B.S. (Javier) and Veronica Solis, MBA, (John). She is survived by her brother, Mike Flores and by the following grandchildren:

Andrew Rivera (Kristen), Lena Poole, M.D., (Michael), Brian Castillo (Gina), Alberto Vasquez III, CFA, Elizabeth Delgado, PAC, (Donald, Esq.), Christina Snell (Corey), David Castillo (Erica), Andrea Castillo, APRN, Orlando Rivera, Sonia Parra, M.D., Elsa Parra, M.D., Jaime Parra, M.D., Jessica Solis, M.D. MBA, and Dr. Jacob Solis, DC.

She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 9:00 am at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 10:30 am at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
