Sofia Castillo Borrego

Sofia Castillo Borrego, age 84, passed away on Aug. 19, 2016. She was born on Jan. 8, 1932 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Dionicio “Nicho” Castillo and Romana Flores Castillo. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Mary Jane Borrego, seven sisters and three brothers, her baby angels, Marisol Isabela Ruiz, Jose, Jesus, Sioux Talamantes; and two sons-in-laws, Benito Fuentes and Ruben Diaz. She is survived by her children, Christine Lucio (Raymond), Joe Borrego, Jr., Arturo Borrego (Maria) Janie Ruiz (Ricardo), Margie Fuentes, Jesse Borrego, Mary Ann Davis (David), Mary Esther Talamantes (Joe); grandchildren, Valarie, Christopher, Jayme, Mark, Veronica, Lori, Joe Carlos, Demetrius, Brandon, Arthur (Carritos), Alex, Anthony, Soledad, Sebastian, Ricky, Robby, Quentin, Benito Jr., Brittany, Jesse Jr., Audrey, Joseph, Thomas Jay, Nicholas, Michael, Shawnee, Cheyenne, Cherokee, Joe Angel and numerous great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Our Mom Sofia, was a woman with good morals and strong values. She raised eight children with gentleness and love for us. Our strength came from her. Her advice to us was sincere with no judgment. She was very dignified and full of pride. Her life was filled with love and laughter. Never held any remorse for anyone. Full of respect for herself and others. We learned how to love by seeing how much love she had for our dad. Her happiness was seeing us with our kids. She will be missed by all of us, but she will live in our hearts. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Funeraria del Angel, 549 Cheyenne St. from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August, 24, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
