Susie Downing

She was born in Harlingen, Texas, to Virginia Adams and John Adams, and was the oldest of five children. She graduated from San Benito, Texas in 1970. Her journey was marked by love, compassion, and her unwavering faith in God. She was a devote member of Oak Park Methodist Church, selflessly aiding in fundraising with her famous spaghetti dinners; and then became a member of First United Methodist Church of Corpus Christi, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents- Virginia Adams and John Adams; her brother- Joe Bob Adams. Susie is survived by her loving husband, Gary Downing Sr, and their three sons- Gary Downing Jr. (Tammi) of Corpus Christi, TX; Allen Downing (Kerry) of Aransas Pass, TX, and Michael Downing (Donna) of Huntington, Tx; her grandchildren- Ashley Elledge (Tory), Morgan Downing Conn (Cody), Allen Elledge (Makenzi), Gary Downing III, Ruby Downing (Matt), Macy Downing (Joe), Eli Downing, Matthew Downing, Daelinn Downing, Kestalyn Downing, and Allen Downing Jr.; her siblings- Johnny Adams, and Barbara Villarreal; sister-in-law, Connie Adams, and many great-grandchildren.

Susie started her career working with her husband, Gary, at Farmer’s Insurance; then, began her career as a Respiratory Technician at Spohn Shoreline and Alameda Oaks Nursing Home; she then began working at First Data in customer services; and then went on to work for Terminex in their customer service department; Susie ended her career at Safe Guard Mini Storage, as a manager, before retiring to a life of leisure, with her husband. There will be no services in respect of Susie’s wishes; but the family does encourage sharing any stories you may have about Susie with those you know, and with her family.
