Casey attended the University of Texas Austin. She was very proud to be a Longhorn Grad and Alumni. Anyone who knew her, knew that she was proud of and supported all our family members who also attended UT. During her college years Casey was very a active member of her sorority Alpha Phi Omega. She would get super hyped whenever the Horns played home games because it allowed her, through the sorority, to run and unfold the American flag out on the field. She had so many memories for good times while in Austin, where she made many lifelong friends. She was very good about keeping in touch with these long time friends.
Casey had several things she was passionate about, most notably her family(Ohana, as she was found of saying, paying tribute to our Hawaiian side). Many of you may or may not know that she was quite talented artistically. She could really draw some amazing pictures! This talent was displayed through one of her other passions which was baking. Casey loved sweets and she truly enjoyed baking them for friends and family. She loved spending time with the family teaching the kids, helping her bake goodies. She took great pride in her “creations”. Holidays and birthdays were her favorite times to make “special requests” delights. They were always so delicious and we are going to miss having her baked goods with our meals.
Casey was an avid sports fan. A few of her favorite teams were, of course, the UT Longhorns; Houston Texans, Astros and Rockets. If you ever watched a game with her you had better be prepared to protect your ears!!! Casey would show her support VERY loudly!!! So much so, she would scare the living bejeezus out of us and the kiddos. No one could ever say she wasn't passionate of her teams! Casey was a party animal! Some of you might remember that Casey use to DJ for friends and private events. She enjoyed a good party and a good time even more so when she was celebrating alongside with a drink of Crown & Coke. Casey had the most fun watching the kids act silly and dancing like fools while she herself would “chair” dance shaking what her mama gave her! Casey had a few shows that she faithfully watched. Her long time favorite was The Young and the Restless, a few others were Ugly Betty, House and Wheel of Fortune. Even though Casey didn't have children of her own she was very involved with her brother James and sister Ditty's kids, grandkids and even great grandkids. She loved being a big part of their lives and shared in the joy of their births, daily lives and everyday happenings. Whenever she could, she would attend special events, performances and any activities involved the kids. She spoiled them rotten!
Casey was preceded in death by her Maternal and paternal grandparents, Father, Albert Gabriel Marchan, Mother, Consuelo Soto Marchan, Brother, James T. We will miss her smile and her laugh and the laughter and joy she brought to each and everyone of us. She would want us to remember her not through tears, but through laughter, music, games, jokes and sharing stories of the crazy things she did and said.
