Sylvia Ernestine Thompson Roddy

Sylvia Ernestine Roddy passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the age of 82. She was born in Concord, North Carolina on August 19, 1928. She and her family moved to Corpus Christi in 1938. She attended schools in Corpus Christi. She graduated in 1946 from Incarnate Word Academy. Sylvia worked in the medical field in Corpus Christi until retirement. She was a volunteer with Christus Spohn Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, Sylvia Griffin Thompson and James Ernest Thompson; her brother, James C. Thompson; and her husband Joe M. Roddy, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Bruce (Sherry) Porcher of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughters, Nancy Porcher (John) Burke and Patricia Porcher (Lance) Lewis of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Peter Porcher and Cherise Porcher of Corpus Christi, Texas, Joey Burke, David Lewis and Michael Lewis of Houston, Texas.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with a Funeral Service to commence at 1:00 p.m. with Father Roger Smith of St. Patrick Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
