

Therona “Rona” A. Anderson, 60, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 14, 2012. She was born on August 25, 1951 in Fort Worth, Texas to Theron A. and Gertrude A. Dildy. Rona graduated from Lake Worth High in 1969. She then went on to attend the University of Texas at Arlington and received her Bachelor’s of Sociology in 1973. She continued on with her education and attended graduate school at the University of North Texas where she received her Master’s degree in 1976 in Gerontology – Studies in Aging. She then attended Christ for the Nations Bible School in 1978 and received an Associates of Arts in Religious Studies, emphasizing in Mission work. She participated with mission work in Mexico from 1980-1984. She was the Director of Volunteer Services at the Knapp Memorial Methodist Hospital in Weslaco, Texas from 1981-1983. She later taught elementary school and was also a school librarian. She found great happiness in teaching young children and in helping develop their desire for learning. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Shira R. Mills (Ben), her son Joshua A. Anderson, her grandson Gideon N. Mills, her brother Walter R. Dildy (Kay), her aunts, several cousins, and her niece and nephew.
A Homegoing Celebration for Rona will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 10:00 A.M. at Church of Hope, 13024 Leopard St., Corpus Christi, Texas. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting that donations be made to Christ for the Nations Missions http://www.cfn.org/donations/ or the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas for Ovarian Cancer Research, http://mdanderson.org/gifts/.
