Vaughn P. Witt born on February 12, 1946 and raised in rural Michigan. After completing his undergraduate degree at Ferris State College, he attended Illinois College of Optometry. Upon graduation, he and his wife, Alison moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1973. He opened his first practice in the small nearby town of Robstown and in 1980 a second office in the Calallen area of northwest Corpus Christi followed. If asked to sum up his essence in one word, that word would be “Service”. For 48 years he provided eye care to his community, offering free eye screening to area elementary schools. He donated time to the Lions Club and led Webelo scout groups. One of his great joys was to introduce young people to the sports of hunting and fishing. As a charter member, Vaughn spent 35 years proudly serving with the Corpus Christi Mustangs (a group of men cooking to raise funds for non-profit organizations) rising to the rank of “Pots and Pans Boss”. He served his church in many form: crucifer/server and Eucharistic Minister, was a regular Food Pantry volunteer, and gave time, resources, and sweat to just about every activity, project, outreach event, and workday at the parish, and always, he was available to his family, friends ad in-laws with an open heart and a willing hand. Vaughn passed away November 17, 2025, at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Kevin. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alison; brother David; sister, Linda Vanderveen (Bruce) and many nieces and nephews.
Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.
