

Virginia B. Flores Soto, 95, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025. She was born on March 28, 1930, in Corpus Christi, where she would spend a lifetime devoted to her family, community, and a meaningful career in healthcare.
Virginia was a proud graduate of Corpus Christi High School, Class of 1949 (Sr's ’49). She went on to earn her Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) degree from Del Mar College. Her calling as a nurse would shape much of her life, and she found purpose in caring for others.
She began her career as Charge Nurse at South Park Manor and steadily advanced through the ranks, becoming Assistant Director of Nursing, then Director of Nursing. Her leadership and dedication led her to roles as Nursing Administrator Coordinator and, ultimately, as a Primary Instructor for Certified Nursing Assistants. Her impact on the community and the many lives she touched is immeasurable.
In 1986, Virginia married Baldemar Soto in Corpus Christi, and together they built a life rooted in love, strength, and family.
Virginia’s passion was people. She lit up every room she entered with her warmth and grace. Though she carried herself with humility, those who knew her saw the strength of a woman devoted to raising and educating all seven of her children with unwavering love and resilience.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benito and Petra Flores; her husband, Baldemar Soto; her daughter, Irma Lynn Ramirez; and her son, Miguel “Mike” Torres.
She is survived by her beloved children:
Joel Torres Jr. (Esmeralda), Jacob Torres (Chris), John D. Torres (Juanie), Aurora “Rory Ann” Bocanegra (Noe), and Frank Espericueta Jr. (Rosie).
She leaves behind many grandchildren who cherished her, including: Brian Ramirez, Eddie Carisalez, Roger Galvan, Rory Torres, Michael Torres Jr., Benjamin Torres, Jacob A. Torres, Cassi Torres, Eric Torres, Vincent Torres, Veronica, Sandy Sue, Kristin Bland, Lisa McCandles, Amanda Espericueta, along with numerous great-grandchildren who carry on her legacy.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Windsor Nursing Home and Rehab, as well as Choice Hospice, for their compassionate care and support.
Virginia’s life was one of service, love, and dedication, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
A visitation for Virginia will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Everhart, 4901 Everhart RD, Corpus Christi, Texas 78411. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM that evening. Continued Visitation will take place Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 2731 Comanche St, Corpus Christi, Texas 78408.
