

William graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1957, and went on to attend Del Mar College where he received his associates degree in electronics and mathematics. He was married to Ruth Lee Yett Brown on July 3, 1966 in Corpus Christi Texas.
William had a long career before his retirement in 2006, he served in the US Navy from September 1961 to August 1965 as a radio operator and air crew on a P-2 neptune aircraft, he served 2 tours in Vietnam. He worked for the US Navy as a civil servant and was an electronics technician from 1966 to 2006. William owned Alameda fishing and tackle from 1976 to 2008 and was the owner of brown CB repair from 1970 to 1994.
William proudly served the U.S. Navy in Vietnam and was a member of the VFW. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman, he and his first wife, Ruth enjoyed camping and traveling with their sons. He also enjoyed going to Las Vegas and traveling with his second wife Sylvia. Bill and Sylvia had a boat and really enjoyed fishing together. Bill Brown was known for being an CB. Radio repairman and a ham radio operator, his CB radio call sign was Barnacle Bill. He was also known for making the Alameda rattler fishing float.
William Gene Brown is preceded in eternal rest by his parents; William Jeannings Brown and Beanie K. Brown, first wife; Ruth Lee Yett Brown, second wife; Sylvia Ann Lange Brown; sister Betty Joyce Vanecek, and stepson; Bobby Scott.
Left to cherish the memory of William are his sons; Dwayne Brown, Don Brown, Dean Brown, stepson; Billy Scott, stepdaughters; Debbie Scott, Renee Kubik, Lisa Welter, Wendy LeBlanc, seven granddaughters, four great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, 20-step grandchildren, 18-step great-grandchildren, nephews; Randal and Damon Vanecek.
A visitation for William will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415. A prayer service will occur Friday, October 10, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery. A committal and interment with final military honors will occur Friday, October 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
