Carolyn Jean (Wolff) Cochran, age 91, of West Lafayette, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. She was born April 23, 1934 to the late Arthur “Ray” and Elva (Martin) Wolff in Newcomerstown, Ohio.
On March 11, 1965, Carolyn married Ernest H. Cochran, who preceded her in death on October 20, 2010.
Carolyn was a 1952 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Shaw Barton and Novelty Advertising, and later served as a secretary at the First Baptist Church of Coshocton. She was a devoted mother and farm wife, roles that meant the most to her. Life on the farm was something she truly loved, and she enjoyed helping with the work, spending time outdoors, and caring for her family.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Coshocton, Carolyn’s faith was an important part of her life. She also enjoyed simple pleasures like fishing, gardening, playing cards, and Scrabble, especially when shared with friends and family. She cherished the summer trips to Ontario, Canada and Lake Chautauqua with her family. More than anything, Carolyn loved raising her children. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Elaine Flowers of Newark, Jennifer (Dennis) Porcher of Spokane Valley, Washington, Mitchell Cochran of Dresden, and Dirk (Mary) Cochran of Mount Vernon; her son-in-law, Tim Reed of Zanesville; and numerous grandchildren and their families. She is also survived by her brother, James “Jim” Wolff of Newcomerstown; her sister, Barbara (Robert) Spry of Tipp City; her special granddaughter, Aimee Reed Kain of Zanesville; her dear friend, Gwen Wells; as well as several nieces and nephews, and her many friends at Seton.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; her daughters, Helen “Janie” Reed and Debbie Barrett; and her brothers, Paul, Donald, Melvin, and Kenneth.
Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Joe Sanders officiating.
