

Charles Hathaway IV, 24, of New York, New York, formerly of Coshocton passed away on May 29, 2012, in Beijing, China, while on vacation. Born on November 13, 1987, to Paula (Kline) and Charles Hathaway III, Charles graduated from Sacred Heart School in 2000, Coshocton High School with honors in 2006, and The Ohio State University magna cum laude in 2010 from the Fisher School of Business with a BS in Business Administration. Charles enjoyed learning about the world around him through adventure and travel, the financial world, politics and engaging people. He worked to achieve his dream of seeing the world and being financially successful. Charles was employed by Morgan Rio Capital Management in New York City as a Financial Analyst and earlier, as an accountant for Citi Group in Columbus. While in college, Charles served as a page in the Ohio State Senate. As a teen he worked for the Johnson Humrickhouse Museum in Coshocton. Charles earned the Boy Scout Eagle Badge in 2005, constructing a handicapped accessible sidewalk between Sacred Heart Church and the Parish Office. Charles began traveling independently of his family as a 14 year old with the People to People Ambassador Program for 3 weeks to Europe and continued traveling with the OSU Mountaineering Club to the West Coast many times. Charles traveled with friends to the East and Gulf coasts, visiting 44 of the 50 United States and 8 foreign countries with his final journey to China. Charles didn’t know a stranger and befriended many people with his willingness to help and his ready smile.
Charles is survived by his parents, sister, Emily Hathaway of Roseville, CA; paternal grandmother, Eleanor (D’Zamba) Hathaway of Hilton Head Island, SC; maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary (Landoll) Kline of Norwalk, OH; Aunts and Uncles, Ann(Tim) Tate, Columbus, OH; Jane (Ray) Forlenza, Tinley Park, IL; John (Joanna) Kline and Chris Kline, Atlanta, GA; James Kline, Corvallis, OR: Timothy (Dianne ) Kline, Thomas Kline, Carolyn (David) Pigman, all of Norwalk, OH; Matt (Gail) Kline, Warner Robins, GA; Martin Kline, Rhinebeck, NY: Claudia (Mark) Ciancarelli, Ft. Myers, FL; Marianna (Rick) Minniear, North Fairfield, OH; Ellen (Bob) Burris, Overland Park, KS; Barbara (Greg) Vaith, Berlin Heights, OH; 25 first cousins and their 20 offspring, and many great aunts and uncles.
Charles was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Hathaway, Jr.
His life will be celebrated with a funeral Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 A.M. on June 15, 2012 at Sacred Heart Church in Coshocton. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the Given Dawson Funeral Home June 14, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. with a Christian Wake service at 7:45. Friends may call one hour before the service on Friday.
