Doris Kemp

Doris Pauline (nee Burris) Bickel Kemp, age 86, from Fresno, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011 in Columbus. She was born on November 25, 1925 in Coshocton to the late Logan Napoleon Burris and Elsie Elona (nee Fry) Burris. Doris graduated from Roscoe High School in 1944 and worked for Ansell Edmont for 20 years before retiring. Doris was a member of both the Coshocton and the Warsaw Nazarene Church. She enjoyed painting, bowling, crocheting, knitting, genealogy history, and spending time with her family. Doris was married to Ray Allen Bickel who passed away on March 30, 1987 and to Ralph Kemp who passed away on September 26, 2000. She is survived by her two children, daughter, Karma Jean (nee Bickel) Miller and husband Neal and son, Allen Ray Bickel and wife Amelia; four grandchildren, Teena Lee (nee Allen) Shaw and husband John Tino, Heath Trent Miller and wife Mary Kristine (nee Strange) Miller, Gwen Delynn (nee Bickel) Recard and husband Jason, and Adriann Rae (nee Bickel) Hayes and husband John; nine great-grandchildren, Tessa, Cole, Brady, Benjamin, Nicolas, Maximilian, Isabelle, Scott, and Michael; two sisters, Carol Jean (nee Burris) Visser and Viola Sue (nee Burris) Matson; three brothers, Donnis Paul Burris, Logan Napoleon Burris Jr. and his wife Jean; and Arthur Ivan Burris; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, and husbands, Doris is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shallay Dee Miller; sister, Betty Joan (nee Burris) Miller; sister-in-law, Norma (nee McMurrin) Burris; and two brothers-in-law, Roland J. Matson and Henry L. Visser. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011, at 2:30 pm at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton, with Reverend Richard King officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, from 1-2:30pm.
