

Born October 5, 1962, Duane was raised in Coshocton, Ohio, where he graduated from Coshocton High School with the Class of 1981. During his school years, he was an active athlete, playing both football and basketball.
Duane had a deep love for sports throughout his life. He was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Michigan Wolverines, and Pittsburgh Pirates. His passion extended beyond watching the game – he played softball for many years, and later became an Umpire, staying closely connected to the sport he loved.
Outside of sports, Duane enjoyed golfing, playing cornhole, and spending evenings around the bonfire with family and friends. He also had a love of music and horror films, passions that brought him joy and connected him with those around him.
Duane is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Means; his children, Kyle Williams, Kellie (Anthony) Shriber, Tanisha Means, Kasey Means, Terrell Means, Kobie Means, Jayden Cline, and Tiffany Means; and his stepchildren, Ryan and Samantha Morris. He was a proud grandfather to Aubreeonna, Kinslee, Kreston, Ka’Leigha, Octavya, Sevy’on, and S’Aurora. He is also survived by his sisters, Heleen Christian, Jessica Means, and Nicole Means.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Mae Beck, and his father, Bishop Duane Edward Means.
Duane will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for sports, and the many memories he created with those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Cedric Anderson officiating. Burial will occur at South Lawn Cemetery.
