

John B. Manning, 62, of West Lafayette, Ohio, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, after a three year struggle with cancer. John was born in Coshocton, Ohio, on March 16, 1949, the son of the late William B. and Eileen M. (Henderson) Manning. John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and then was employed for several years at the St. Regis Paper Co. and then retired from AK Steel after many years of service. John was a member of the Fresno United Methodist Church, and enjoyed spending time with his family, restoring classic cars, and fishing at the family cabin in Canada. He is survived by his wife and best friend of twenty-two years, Vickie L. (Cabot) Manning. Also surviving are his four children, Jodi (Jim) McVay of Warsaw, Ohio, Jennifer (Chris) Knapp of West Lafayette, Ohio, Travis Rehard of Wasilla, Alaska, and Allison (Hooper) McCoy of West Lafayette, Ohio, four grandchildren, Ciara McVay, Kalani Knapp, Katy Knapp, and Turner Knapp. John is also survived by his sisters, Joyce Appis, Patricia (Ed) Jerels, Sharon Schlosser, and brother, Thomas Manning. John was preceded in death by his brother George Manning. A graveside service will be held in Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette, Ohio, on Monday, June 6, 2011, at 10:00am with Pastor Mary Owen officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00am at the Fresno United Methodist Church, Fresno, Ohio, where a luncheon will be held immediately after the service.
