Linda Diane Smith

Linda Diane Smith, age 62, of Warsaw, passed away after a very courageous fight with cancer on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. She was born on August 13, 1963, in Barberton, Ohio to the late Thomas and Leona (Fern) Schaffer.

On August 13, 1982, she married Richard “Dick” Smith and together they celebrated 33 years of marriage before his passing on February 8, 2016. Linda was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, Aunt Sissy, cousin and friend to many and deeply loved her work family.

Linda was an incredibly hard-working person, and enjoyed every minute of it, even working through her cancer diagnosis up until just a few weeks ago. She worked for many years at Echoing Hills, Signature Health Care and more recently at Genesis Hospital in Coshocton.

Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren, her loving family and friends, traveling to Colorado to visit her sister, and especially loved her fur babies.

She is survived by her two children, Thomas (Kelly) Smith of Doylestown and Lisa (Ryan) Hawthorne of Coshocton, two grandchildren, Dirk and Daisy Hawthorne, one sister in Colorado and two sisters in Ohio. Many nieces and nephews including, Sam, Brewer, Spencer, Briggs, Jason, Amy, Josh, and Toby; cousins, Bobby and Michelle Fern, Kaitlyn and Matt Cline and Katheryn and Jarod Robinson; along with special friends, Dave and Bev Ramsey and a host of many other loving family and friends, including a special thank you to Rick, Earl “Peanut” and Fred for their continued support of Linda after Dick’s passing.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Linda’s name to the Coshocton County Animal Shelter & HATA.
