Mona Jean Prater

Mona married Andrew Prater on December 23, 1951, who passed away December 23, 2007. She worked as a nurse’s aide for many years. She was described by her family as a domestic goddess, and loved to cook and eat, and spend time with her family. She had a heart of gold and was known for her extraordinary hugs, and was very loving and caring.

Mona is survived by her daughter Barbara Prater of West Lafayette, as well as four grandchildren, Tiea (Rob) Quinton, Frhonda (John) Blair, Damien Prater, and Danyiel (Cliff) Franks; 11 great-grandchildren: Jayvin, Bella, Donovan, Nathan, Matt, April, AJ, Benjamin, Johnny, Lillajean, and Emery; her sister, Hilma Wright, and daughter-in-law Kathy Kellogg.

Along with her parents and husband, Mona is preceded in death by her son Arlen Prater, and grandson Lawrence Prater.

Calling hours will be held at Given Dawson Paisley Funeral home from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 4, 2021. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, officiated by Steve Young. Burial will take place at Fairfield Cemetery.
