Violet was born on February 26, 1939 in Gnadenhutten to the late Avery D. and Gladys (Tufford) Rice. On September 27, 1956, she married her “knight in shining armor,” Harold Collins Titus, and would have shared 60 years of marriage with him this year. For many years, Violet was a waitress; and she enjoyed selling Avon for over 30 years. She was baptized in Milfork and then was rebaptized at the First Baptist Church of Coshocton when her and her husband became members. Violet was an avid reader, she liked watching the Trinity Network and RDTV, and she loved to watch sports. Her favorite team was the Cleveland Indians. Violet also loved the Gaither’s and went to several of their concerts. One of Violet’s proudest moments was when she brought her brother Donnie’s two sons, Don and Garry, together to meet for the first time.
Along with her husband, Violet is survived by her three daughters: Peggy (Terry) Holsclaw, Jacqueline (Chuck) D’Ostroph, and Lori (Lee) Stockon; seven grandchildren: Mark (Andi), Josh (Sheena), Jenny (Ray), Clay (Ali), Tia, Chance, and Aaryn; eight great-grandchildren: Emma, Chloe, Hunter, Maddox, Liliannah, Ryleigh, Kinleigh, and Lane; one brother, Robert (Darlene) Rice; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Along with her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her two brothers, Delmar and Donnie, her two sisters, Sue and Linda, and her father and mother-in-law, Clifford and Marie Titus.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Coshocton on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.
