Missing your goofy self dad. Hoping you’re out there somewhere in peace. 

Dear Sheila and kids,

I had been telling Bonnie for over a year now that I would get in touch with Sheila and LLoyd on my next visit to So Cal.   I have so many wonderful memories of our get togethers at your house with all our kids.  One more of the many things I have regretted not doing, or putting off.   

I have found myself with a lack of laughter lately, and instantly thought of Sheila and Lloyd.  It was always fun to be around them, hence I was definitely planning on getting in touch before my next trip.   A light has gone out in the world, just when we need all the light and love we can get.   So sorry to read about Lloyd, and send warm hugs to Sheila and kids.  

I love my uncle Lloyd. One year I had a Father’s Day party and I painted t shirts for all of the dads.  They said things like worlds greatest dad and #1 grandpa.  The next year I had another fathers day party.  I had forgotten about the year before  but when uncle Lloyd arrived at the house he was wearing the shirt.  He was the only dad in the family that wore the shirt.  When I saw him it absolutely warmed my heart and aunt Sheila told me it took him 30 min to find the shirt but he wasn’t leaving until he found it.  He was so thoughtful and I will never forget that Father’s Day.  I miss you uncle Lloyd.  

My wife introduced me to her cousin  Sheila and Lloyd about 55 years ago. 
We had been dating a short time, and my wife warned me that Lloyd 
might be a little risqué with his jokes. 
Naturally , after meeting Lloyd, it became quite obvious that Lloyd was one funny character. After many more encounters we sure did connect. Lloyd was an usher at our wedding, and when we moved to New Milford, geography brought us closer. Lloyd took me fishing once up at the reservoir near their home in Emerson. We caught s huge Carp and Lloyd put it in his bathtub to keep it alive so the kids could see it. Sheila didn’t bat an eyelash and laughed her way all the way through dinner. 
We also used to play in a Sunday softball league. During one summer while I was working  for the N J Highway Dept. I hurt my hand and needed stitches. I called Lloyd to tell him I couldn’t play. His remark was “ R u kidding me get your ass over here. Of course I went even though 
my future livelihood was at stake.  You just can’t turn Lloyd down..I wish I lived closer so that I could have spent more funny times with my wife’s crazy cousin .
We loved spending  time  with Sheila and Lloyd and will keep his laughter in our hearts.

I'm so sad to here that the funniest guy has passed I just loved him and so sad I never got to come to cali to see him.  He will be greatly missed and as I sit here writting I can hear him telling me a joke . Love dana and Michael oxhorn

My heart is filled with sadness as I viewed this beautiful tribute. I’m so impressed with the Cohen Family for all of the care and love you have shown to your parents through the years. You all handled he hardships that they endured with such compassion. 
Whenever they visited New Jersey, or we spoke on the telephone, they praised their kids and grandkids constantly. 
You will always get comfort knowing how much you did to make your parents comfortable in good times as well as hard times. 
My love, prayers and memories  will always be with all of you.

Cousin and friend

My mommy had to write this for me because, well,  I’m a dog after all.  Grandpa thought I was human or something because he used to talk to me like I knew what he meant. I knew he loved me no matter what I did. I loved Grandpa Lloyd . He used to sneak me treats and he let me jump in bed with him. He was one of my favorite humans.  Woof Grandpa, I’m going to miss you. 

My memories of Lloyd are everlasting


We go way way back.Mom was my first cousin and roommate at Douglass College.We became good friends.Lloyd 
Made us laugh from day one.We were very close.Lloyd was never at a loss for words.From Bayonne(when they first got married)to Emerson where they had their children,we were always together.We had such good times.We moved to Pittsburg .Then lloyd went from teaching to a congoleum floor salesman and then was transferred to Chicago.From Chicago they moved to California and eventually opened a store that sold fudge,candy,and other things. Through this all we remained friends.I remember once when Lloyd and Sheila came to New Jersey, lloyd 
Was in heaven because he could not get good mussels in California ,so almost every day of his vacation at the shore,he would go from restaurant to restaurant to eat the mussels.He couldn't get enough.Well when he returned home  he came down with hepatitis.you guessed it from too many mussels.
HE was one colorful guy!Rest in peace dear Lloyd.Hope you play cards with Hepsy and Bobby when you meet.Love and strength to you all!!!
