
Valencia, CA – Dr. Scott Manson Petri, a resident of Valencia,California, died on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the age of 57.
Born to Richard and Kay Petri on July 5, 1967, Scott was raised in Hampton, NH, and was a 1985 graduate of Winnacunnet High School. He graduated from University of San Diego in 1991 and worked for Fairbanks Ranch and then Disney before entering a competitive accelerated program to train teachers from other professions in L.A. Scott eventually earned a Doctorate in Education from Cal State Northridge.
A dedicated and passionate educator, Dr. Petri served as a history and social studies teacher in Los Angeles for over two decades. In 2024, he brought his expertise to The Bill of Rights Institute. Scott was not only an award-winning educator but also a published author, leaving a lasting impact on the field of education which he cared so deeply about.
Above all his professional accomplishments, Scott's greatest pride and joy were his two daughters, Sarah (20) and Mars (17). He and his wife,Sheila, recently celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary, a testament to their enduring partnership.
Scott's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his devoted wife, Sheila; his daughters, Sarah and Mars; his sister, Erika Petri; his brother-in-law, Chris Clegg; his nephews, Miles and Toby Clegg-Petri; and his niece, Katherine (KC) Clegg-Petri, as well as his mother-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, and 8 nieces and nephews on Sheila’s side of the family. He was predeceased by his parents.
He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, colleagues,and the countless students whose lives he touched.
