

Born in London, England, on March 6, 1932, Audrey’s resilience was forged early in life when, as a child, she was evacuated to Norfolk England during world war 2. In 1949, she married her husband, Joseph Ernest Reeves. In 1957, the couple emigrated to Canada with their two young children, eventually settling in Ontario.
The skills Audrey learned during her wartime evacuation served her well on their small acreage in Ontario, where they welcomed their third child. It was also during this time that Audrey trained to become a teacher. In 1968, following Joe’s promotion, the family moved to Sardis, B.C. Audrey put her training to use, teaching in a two-room schoolhouse. The family later moved to Sumas Prairie, and Audrey continued her vocation, teaching in Yarrow.
After Joe’s passing in 1983, Audrey retired to Hornby Island in 1987. Her retirement years were vibrant and full; she was an avid gardener whose work was recognized on the local garden tour, a dedicated volunteer at the Free Store, A lifelong learner, loved reading and a regular at jazz festivals. A woman of many stories and enduring friendships, she maintained contact with friends throughout her life, including author Len Deighton.Audrey was the beloved matriarch to her children: Frances (Garth) Millan, Trevor (Trish) Reeves, and Andy (Sue) Reeves.
She leaves behind a legacy in her grandchildren: Russell (Tanya),Amanda (Bob), Curtis; Dawn (Vincent), Jessica (Rocky), Gareth (Jenna), Kayla (Cam), Naomi; Wade
She will be dearly missed by her 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great - great grandchildren.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Ernest Reeves, and her great-granddaughters, Ashleigh and Jessica.
