

Grace Irene Hislop passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026 with family by her side at the age of 97. Grace was born on 25 May 1928 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Mom shared fond memories of her time growing up in Saskatchewan. Grace met her husband, Don in Vancouver and they moved to Vancouver Island settling in Youbou where they resided for many years and later moving to their retirement home on Denman Island.
For many years Grace worked as a janitor at Yount School in Youbou. She enjoyed all the children and staff who passed through Yount school over the years.
Grace will fondly be remembered for her favorite past time of making handmade quilts which she gifted to many family members.
Friends and family will remember the smell of freshly baked bread and the 18 loaves she turned out faithfully every Sunday.
Grace is survived by her children:
Daughter Karen Lavoie, son Randy Hislop (Connie), daughter Wanda Slobodan (David), son Neil Hislop and son Scott Hislop; grandchildren: Jennifer (Les), Ryan (Tara), Tyler (Ashley), Michael, Vincent, Teresa (Nathan), Dionne, Angie, Jenna, and Molly; as well as many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Grace is survived by her brother Gary Warick (Pat).
Grace is predeceased by her loving husband Don and their son, Lindsay.
Grace will always be remembered for her stories and “numerous” photos she loved to share of her time growing up on the prairies.
At Mom’s request, there will be no service.
