announces the peaceful passing of
our dear mother, sister,
grandmother, great grandmother,
and friend.
Marion is predeceased by her loving
husband of 60 years, Archie Brooks.
As the middle child in a family of 16,
Marion was born and spent her early
years in Craigend, Alberta, before
her family moved to Fort McMurray
(Waterways). This is where she met
and married Archie in the little church
in Heritage Park, and where their first
home still sits. Marion was a devoted
homemaker, and an amazing mother
to Douglas (Val), Donald (Linda), and
Karen (Robert). She was an adoring,
doting grandmother to her
grandchildren Brandin (Candace),
Derek, Jillian (Ryan), Olivia, Ethan,
Brooke, BobbiAnne
(Aaron), Emily
(Kam), and Jordan. She was also the
proud great grandmother
of Benjamin, Barry, Adam, and Amira.
Marion was a sincere, caring person
and her kindness and compassion
towards others was immeasurable.
Anyone who met her could
immediately feel her genuine soul.
She welcomed everyone into her
comforting, gentle presence with her
"smile" that was her special sparkle.
For her natural beauty, strength, and
quiet sense of humour we are
eternally grateful, and will forever
value the time she was with us.
Marion could often be found outside
tending to her flowers and garden, or
in the kitchen baking the latest recipe
she found. She was wonderful at
both and we will miss all her signature treats that we were
encouraged to sample. She enjoyed
many activities such as curling, slow
pitch, bowling, floor curling, bocce
ball, shuffle board, going for walks,
fishing, and singing in the Golden
Years choir. Marion had a love of
music, and especially enjoyed
dancing. Her favourite artist was
John Denver, and her song was
"Annie's Song". Marion loved a good
cup of tea (her latest choice being
lemon ginger), playing the dice
game, Greed, a game of cards,
knitting (slippers) for all, berry picking
to make those jams, jellies, and
crabapple liqueur, canning her
garden bounty, and sharing with us
all those recipes.
Marion leaves to remember and
celebrate her life her three brothers
Arthur, Lester, and Willie. She will
also be fondly remembered by her
special friend, Ed, neighbours, Al
and Teresa, dear friend, Yvonne,
and an abundance of family, friends,
and her Golden Years community.
Our family wishes to extend a special
thank you to the Hospice in Comox
Valley and the Cumberland Lodge,
for all their care and support.
May her memory be a blessing to us
all.
In lieu of flowers, please bake a
sweet treat for a friend, or plant some
pansies in your garden in her honour.
A celebration of life will be held from
1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on June 26, 2022
at Golden Years Society, 10111
Main Street, Fort McMurray, Alberta,
Canada.
